Whole Film Summary

Wimbledon, London. 15 year old Marnie lives in a council house on a private road with her Mother Tina and her younger brother Jayden. Marnie is a strong confident young girl, that one day wants to become a teacher. She finds a secret stash of letters and cards from her real father and questions everything she has ever known. This is then a catalyst for Marnie’s hereditary depression to rear its ugly head, and at the age of 16 she starts to self harm. Marnie gets taken to rehab but recovers once she is put on medication. A few months after leaving rehab she meets a thuggish drug dealer named Darren, their turbulent, violent relationship begins to isolate Marnie from her friends and family. She begins taking drugs and is exploited by Darren for his personal gain. By this time it is coming up for Marnie’s 18th birthday and her dad tries to find his daughter, after years of trying to get in contact through her mother. He arrives in the town where she lives and is told by some of Darren’s friends where he can find his daughter. Marnie’s father (Dave) tries to take his daughter out of these surroundings but Darren won't let Marnie go. Darren and his gang of friends beat Dave till he is within an inch of his life and he is hospitalised. Marnie, Darren & his friends are arrested and Dave bails Marnie out of prison.
